The Legislative Visitation Program, for students in grades 6-12,
includes curricular materials, as well as a visitation program to
the state legislature. The program provides students with a learning
experience that combines contact with legislators and an historical
perspective in important issues.
The Legislative Visitation Program is intended for incorporation
into curricula on American history, state and local government, as
well as contemporary issues and events. Through readings, classroom
discussion, and a tour of the Legislative Office Building, including
and on-site visitation with legislators at the State Capitol, the
Legislative Visitation Program offers students and teachers an invaluable
understanding and appreciation of the values of representative democracy
and democratic leadership.
