The high school mock trial competitions are held each year in late winter and spring. Regional trials are held in March in superior courts throughout the state, followed by playoffs, quarter-finals, and semi-final contests. The state final mock trial competition is held on Law Day, May 3 at the Connecticut Supreme Court in Hartford. The middle school mock trial competition, for students in grades 6-8, is a one-day event, taking place in early December. Regional tournaments are held at schools in the Hartford area and in the southern part of the state. The High School Mock Trial Program, begun in 1976, is co-sponsored by the CCLCE and the Connecticut Bar Association. Throughout its 27-year history, thousands of students and their teachers have participated in the program: last year the program included 700 students from 52 Connecticut high schools. The Middle School Mock Trial Program is in its 7th year: last year 350 students from 38 middle school teams competed in the middle school program. All schools are welcome to participate in the Mock Trial Program. For more information contact the CCLCE office.
